6 outfits to inspire you over the Christmas season

If you’re not a sparkles & Christmas jumper kinda girl then I’ve put together six Christmas outfit ideas that will cover you over the festive period, in case you get stuck & need a little extra inspiration. Don’t forget many of these items, or similar, may already be hanging in your wardrobe (so start there & improvise with what you have) & of course I’ve included lots of red, because tis the time of year to add a little rouge, even if it’s just a red lip. I’d love to know your favourites & to see any photos of outfits you create from what I’ve put together …

‘Drivin’ home for Christmas’

Whether you’re heading home to your parents, visiting family & friends, or heading out to the countryside it’s all about casual, comfortable & layering for the journey. Hopefully there will be a glass of mulled wine waiting for you on your arrival!

‘Twas the night before Christmas’

Christmas Eve has always been my favourite day of the festive season, especially since having children. I get such joy from seeing the excitement & anticipation of what Christmas may bring (although the excitement can get very noisy). Getting them ready for bed in their Christmas pjs, scattering reindeer food & getting the mince pie, port (at husband’s request) & carrot for the reindeer are memories I want to hold onto forever. I used to go out & have one too many drinks, and think I was Mariah, way prefer the calmer new way of doing things.

I like to add festive touches to my look, but still be comfortable & able to do any last minute errands or pick ups that we may have forgotten, which always happens right?

“Rockin’ around the Christmas tree”

It has always been tradition in our household to dress up on Christmas Day, not hanging around all days in pjs (although I am normally back in them by 7pm latest these days with my cheese & crackers & a glass of red ready for Strictly). Plus I like to add a bit of sparkle on the day and a big red bow headband that’s supposed to be a novelty headband, but I’ve worn it every Christmas day for the last 10 years as my accessory, and don’t intend to stop anytime soon!

Cheese night with friends, a.k.a leftovers, on Boxing Day

I like to stick with my ‘norm’, but elevated, when I want to socialise & be comfortable with my friends. I stick to my jeans, a more festive-feel tee (as it’s always hot when so may people are hanging out right, or is it just my age?), a heel that I can easily take off, and accessories that add a little glam to my everyday. I tend to wear jeans as I like to get involved in all the games, & can’t be worrying about not being able to act out my charades without flashing my best friend’s husband or the teenagers among us.

Dog walking in the woods (new for me this year!)

Our new addition for 2023, Otis, has firmly become one of the family so we’ll be heading out to walk off the Christmas lunch multiple times around Christmas period & of course I want to wrap up warm, but still feel a little stylish. Gloves, hat, plus my “sexy” Uniqlo layer is always essential to keep me snuggly without the bulk!

Why is it so hard to know what day it is between Christmas & New Years and actually does it really matter (unless you need to go to work of course)? I intend to spend it this year being comfortable, getting outside as much as I can & eating up all the amazing food. Plus I like to work on my goals for 2024 & what went really well this year ( I love New Year & find it exciting & full of opportunities). What are your New Year goals or intentions? Any goals on ‘sorting’ your wardrobe, looking more ‘put together’, dressing for the body you have or getting your style mojo back talk to me. I genuinely want to help and don’t want you to go into another year feeling meh.
