How to Wear Leopard Print SS24 Style
In case you missed the memo, or haven’t been on social media lately, leopard print is back with a BANG! Here’s my guide on how to wear leopard print styles for SS24:
When Erica Davies titled her book “Leopard is a neutral’ some were questioning, however this season nothing feels more true (& she is usually right)! Leopard print is EVERYWHERE & I personally am thrilled as it means I can add a few new pieces into my wardrobe from the masses out there, although there are some very questionable dupes so be careful.
Worn in a more modern silhouette, with looser-fitting layers & either washed-out colour palettes like chambray blue, or even with a pop of colour (oh yes my Adidas Spezials pair beautifully with my Mint Velvet leopard jeans), theses combinations feel an aire of welcomed newness I’m excited about. So here are my Top 10 ways to wear leopard print this season:
Denim & leopard print are a match made in heaven …. simple & effective. Even a pair or mid denim jeans or shorts, a simple white tee or tank & leopard print bag are an easy way-in to the trend. Add a blazer & colour pop or metallic heel and your go to out for a summer cocktail.
Modern leopard print needs to look effortlessly ‘cool - girl’ aesthetic, nothing that resembles Pat Butcher, Kat Slater or Mel B in her Spice Girls hey day.
Try merging your trends e.g. leopard print & wide leg trousers, leopard print & red trainers or leopard & a pretty blouse.
Treat leopard print as a everyday basic; styling with a white shirt, a cream well-fitting tee and a blazer.
Swap your summer ecru jeans for a leopard print pair or your blazer / spring jacket for a leopard print shirt or shacket.
Leopard print (skirt or jeans) and a chambray blue shirt is a great ‘everyday’ look and feels fresh and modern. Go for either stripes or plain
Leopard print works brilliantly with a metallic shoe, whether a heel or trainer with metallic details
Orange, green, yellow, navy & red are my favourite colours to sit alongside leopard print …. if you want to move away from black, white or ecru
A slogan tee, leather jacket & animal leopard print skirt is always a great idea (and is the most liked image in my Style File by my clients)
Stripes & leopard print, florals & leopard print & checks & leopard print are my favourite ways to print mix this seasons ‘must have’ print.
Keep an eye on colour
Although I’ve just stressed that leopard print should now be seen as a neutral, to make things just a touch more challenging, there’s now a wide variety of leopard prints to pick from, and some are much more chic than others. The leopard print pieces you’ll spot in trend-led circles are a little more subtle in shade than the bright orange and black buys – well-worn pale prints, dark-wash designs and patterns that are more brown than red take the top spot. If it’s almost cartoon-like, step well away.
