My 3 quick money saving ideas for YOUR wardrobe this Christmas!
It’s December, in the midst of a cost of living crisis & money being stretched in all directions, and it is STRESSFUL! So before hitting the shops in a panic to get a new Christmas outfit, can you do one of / any of the below to save a few pennies, save the planet & keep that money for the endless requests from small people who seem to think the cost of living crisis hasn’t hit the North Pole yet. We need money saving ideas ladies & we need them now…
Heard about fashion rental?
A great opportunity to save some money & enjoy a new outfit is to rent your party outfit this year, & with so many companies jumping on board with this, most recently John Lewis (who have some great pieces for such great value), it’s a great way to enjoy something new without the huge cost to yourself, & the environment. How often have you bought a new outfit for a Christmas party only to then leave it sat unworn in your wardrobe because either you don’t want to wear it again (as it was documented on instagram) or the following year it no longer fits, or you don’t like it anymore.
Marks & Spencer work with HIRESTREET, where one of my favourite brands to wear for parties is readily available, that is Nobody’s Child ( just size up as they often come up pretty small). If you are looking for a show stopping piece, or have a really special Christmas party & want a more premium garment look to HURR or By Rotation to start your search.
Been into a local charity shop recently?
Charity shops are a great place to pick up a bargain in November / December as the sparkles & Christmas pieces are all brought out at this time to entice you in! Be warned, with the prices going up everywhere, even the charity shop prices seem higher BUT it is still cheaper, & better for the planet, to see what treasures you can find! I found a brand new Zara dress last week for £25, still with tags on that was just waiting to be taken to a party! It’s also the time when Vinted is inundated with bargains to be had so if you can’t get to the charity shops, have a quick scroll through to see what you can find ….. there is so much!
Swap, swap, swap!
My favourite was to save money on occasion wear is to swap amongst your friends or family (my mum has the best collection of sparkling skirts & beautiful jumpers for the festive season so I am onto a winner there). Of course not all friends are the same shape & size but one may have a sequin bag, another a statement necklace, one a Christmas jumper, another a shirt with sequin shoulders for example. There is always a way to elevate a look just with a perfect accessory! And don’t just think about this for Christmas, I often do this with weddings and summer parties so get a great group of friends and start swapping!
