How to style Ecru or 'dirty white' jeans?

Ecru, ivory, dirty white, eggshell, off-white, however they are referred to, these neutral & softer toned jeans are a firm favourite of mine & are, for me, the more modern approach to a white skinny that personally always remind me of Liz Hurley circa 1995.

These relaxed ecru jeans are not only the perfect antidote to Summer’s classic white skinny ( which suit about 5% of the population at a push), and the best news is that we don’t have to wait until Summer to wear them, crack them out now as I’ve seen snowdrops this morning so Spring is imminent!

Go for head-to-toe neutrals; from the layers to the footwear choice & all the accessories in between!

  • Ecru jeans are so much softer on the eye than a harsh bright white & work perfectly with muted colour pops e.g. moss green tees or knits, soft red knits, caramel or toffee tones

  • Ecru jeans look so much more modern than a white skinny, especially in a looser than a white skinny so look for a straight leg or "mom" style, cuts offs & high-waisted

  • Wearing multiple shades of white at once will transition your jeans from Spring to a summertime look

  • Ecru jeans with a white T-shirt and black slides is probably the chicest (and easiest) look to pull off, but pop over a blazer & your black loafers until the weather gets warmer

  • Ecru jeans look fab against a tonal snakeskin heeled boot or metallic court shoe

  • Ecru jeans look perfect with camels, toffees and malted tones especially throwing on your trusty leather jacket or tonal checked blazer

  • Ecru jeans, unless white, don’t need to be kept purely for high summer! They are great from Spring to Autumn

So certainly some ladies will continue to live in bright white jeans from May through August, but my suggestion to you is to go for this more up-to-date ecru shade; easier to style, far more of a 2023 vibe, so many more cuts available to choose from & no more anxiety about the fear of spills or (worse) unintentionally see-through denim!
