My Top Tips before you hit the stores to shop the AW24 New Season trends

Autumn, my favourite seasonal shift in fashion. This is predominantly due to the Spring collections launching in January, and it feeling like a long time since seeing coats, jackets, knitwear & all that comes with the change in seasons. But, as the season shifts so do our wardrobes & this can be a daunting task, and even a little overwhelming maybe?

If this is you, or even if it isn’t but you may want a little refresh, don’t panic you are not on your own. I help ladies everywhere navigate these changes, introducing ways to begin layering through this transitional period & even the packing away of high Summer pieces ready for next year. Transitioning your wardrobe can, and should be fun, so here are some simple tips to help you along the prepare:

I. Take stock of what you have: I know the ‘new stuff’ is exciting, I’m human & love shopping too, BUT before you race to the shops and buy ‘so’ new pieces, spend a little bit of time assessing what you already own, either by booking a Wardrobe Edit with me, or going at it on your own. By becoming clear with what you already have, you will be able to make considered shopping decisions (plus not waste money on items you’ll never wear, or already own something similar).

2. What is your colour palette? Do you know what colours really work for you? It is only once you’ve select a cohesive colour scheme that you can simplify your wardrobe and make outfit creation an effortless task. You’re looking for colours that evoke confidence, enhance skin radiance & create outfits you love wearing ….. not a seasonal colour just because it’s on trend (and almost always NOT BLACK ….. more to come on that soon).

3. Identify what are your essentials? We all have different needs depending on our stage of life, career, interests and opinions (contrary to belief we are not all sheep, so why would we all want to dress the same?) What do YOU need for the coming season & importantly, what don’t you need? Make a priority shopping list of what key pieces you need for the coming season, plus what will enhance your wardrobe & make it more workable & versatile for you. Perhaps you need a new blazer to sharpen up those smart casual looks, or are you fed up of sore feet in heels & are ready to embrace the pointed flats trend, saving your feet the heartache?

4. Quality over quantity: We all know the phrase but how many of us actually stick to it (I work on the for a 80:20 attitude as that is what works for me, my budget & my needs). Invest in those key items that are versatile, timeless and may seem more costly upfront, but won’t need replacing more often (adding to potentially another stressful shopping experience). You will always feel your best in clothes that fit correctly, flatter you & give you that put-together’ confidence.

5. Finish your look: I never leave the house without an accessory or two (probably nearer 3) because they ‘finish’ my look & really emphasise my personal style. Work on curating a small, manageable collection of bags & accessories, which work across multiple outfits & really add YOU to the looks you create. In addition, a new season accessory could be a way to stay ‘on trend’ plus update a simple tee, jean & blazer combo ….. burgundy bag anyone?

Remember, your wardrobe is YOURS, it should bring you happiness & confidence, not cause unnecessary stress & anxiety. But, if you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed or like you’d just need an injection of style (or polite kick up the a***), to get some new ideas & have fun with your wardrobe again, don’t hesitate to get in touch for a chat to see if I can help.

We ALL have the potential to feel our absolute best, to unlock & develop our own personal style, & enjoy a season looking AND feeling incredible!
